Oxytropis is mainly a montane plant of Siberia and Central Asia. In North America there are 24 species, 8 subspecies and 15 varieties of Oxytropis belonging to 7 sections. Areas of 6 species include Asian Russia, whereas 1 species was introduced from Middle Asia. The species are more abundant in the sections Arctobia and Orobia . Like in Asia, Oxytro-pis of North America is concentrated in the mountains, especially in Alaska, Canada, and the Rocky Mountains. The section Arctobia is presented mainly in Alaska, western and northern Can-ada; the section Orobia relates to the boreal zone, especially to the Rocky Mountains.
