Use of GIS technologies in comparative analysis of the disease incidence caused by transmissive tick-borne infections (a case study of the city of Irkutsk)

We report results from a comparative analysis of the disease incidence caused by tick-borne encephalitis, ixodes tick-borne borreliosis and tick-borne rickettsiosis by using databases on cases in Irkutsk, and the Microsoft Excel software application. The study revealed areas of increased risk with regards to these infections, which were entered on electronic maps. We calculated the peaks of attacks of ticks and diseases caused by each infection, and the length of the incubation period, and analyzed the gender characteristics, and the age and social distribution of patients according to the forms of tick-borne infections.
