Study of karst ice caves using remote sensing methods

Presented are the radio sounding results on the Kheetei karst ice cave in Zabaikalskii Krai. The cave roof was investigated by the active and passive radar methods as well as infrared imaging. The study revealed heat sources, air flows and the dislocation of rocks along the fissure under the hoar-frost layer. It is suggested that this technique be used in regular measurements in order to study changes in the condition of hollow subterranean formations and thermal processes in environment.
